YOUTH MENTORING
The Maryland Crossbow Federation has implemented a recognition program for those that mentor a youth on the skills to become a hunter. This is a very important program as the numbers of hunters are dwindling every year and it is up to us to teach our youth the benefits of hunting, the enjoyment of being outdoors, ethics and good sportsmanship and hunting safety.
If you have children that you can mentor and teach the values of hunting to, please do so. If not, we all have nieces and nephews or grandchildren that we can mentor. Please encourage our youth to hunt with you and teach them the valuable skills that you have learned throughout the years so that hunting will not become a dying tradition.
If you know an MCF member that is mentoring a youth on hunting skills, please nominate that person by contacting the MCF. Each February those mentors will receive a special certificate, names to be announced in the February Crossbow Press and posted on the MCF website. Photo's will be posted when possible. Keep up the great work!
